Top Annual Consumer Spending Events

There are many factors that drive consumer purchases throughout the year. In order to help you optimize your marketing efforts, our printable calendars and monthly briefings highlight the holidays and seasons that align with the top consumer spending events as identified and tracked by the National Retail Federation (NRF).

While the winter holidays take the number one spot for total planned spend across all consumers participating, you’ll see in the chart below that when it comes to per person expected spend, back to college and back to school are the leaders. While there are less consumers buying specifically for students during this season (versus buying for the winter holidays), they plan to spend more.
