What This Policy Covers

This policy discusses how Annum, LLC (“Annum” or “we”) collects, stores and uses your personal contact information (the “Contact Information”) provided during or as a condition of your access to or use of the Annum website, software, and services (together, the “Annum Services”).  It also addresses how Annum collects, stores and uses additional information that you provide or that relates in any way to your use of the Annum Services (the “Other Information”).

The Contact Information Annum collects may include your name, username, address, institutional affiliation (if any), profile picture, phone number, and/or e-mail address.  The Other Information Annum collects may include, but is not limited to, information about the frequency, nature and duration of your use of the Annum Services, including the website, and any information directly entered, inputted, or transmitted by you during the course of your use of the Annum Services.  Note that there also may be links from the Annum website to third-party information and service providers who collect information from you.  Annum has no control over the privacy policies of any third-party companies, so please examine those policies for details concerning their use of such information.

Information Collection and Use

Contact Information.  For ordinary use of the Annum Services with an individual user account, we may solicit and collect minimal Contact Information from you that includes your name, mailing address, institutional affiliation (if any), phone number, and e-mail address.  Annum uses your Contact Information for the following purposes only:  to fulfill your requests for our Annum Services, to communicate with you concerning our Annum Services, to provide technical assistance to you for our Annum Services, to protect against and detect any instances of fraud or other violations of the Annum Terms of Use, and to provide, maintain, protect, and improve our Annum Services.  Annum will not rent, lease or sell your Contact Information, and we will not disclose your Contact Information to other people or non-affiliated companies without your consent, except when we have a reasonable, good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; (b) enforce the Annum Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy, including investigation of potential violations of their terms; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Annum, other Annum users, or the public as required or permitted by law.  If Annum is acquired by or merged with another company, we may transfer your Contact Information to that entity so long as we and the other entity take reasonable steps to protect the confidential nature of such information.

In the event that Annum receives a subpoena or similar legal process for which your Contact Information is responsive, Annum will make a prompt, reasonable effort to contact you prior to providing the requested data and no more than seven days after receipt of the request.  In non-emergency circumstances, Annum generally will not produce the subpoenaed identity information until at least two weeks after receipt of the subpoena, unless legally required to do so.

Other Information.  Annum also may review, collect, store and use additional details provided by you and information concerning your use of the Annum Services.  That information is of two general types:  (i) information concerning the frequency, nature, and duration of an individual user’s use of the Annum Services (the “Operations Information”); and (ii) content which is entered, inputted, or transmitted by an individual user into the Annum website or software, including any information provided or operations performed by an individual user (the “User-Entered Content”).  Annum generally treats Operations Information and User-Entered Content in different ways, subject to the terms stated elsewhere (e.g., concerning receipt of subpoenas):

Operations Information.  Annum may review, collect, store and use a variety of Operations Information, including but not limited to the Internet Protocol (IP) address through which you access the Annum Services, the date and time you accessed the Annum Services, the pages that you accessed while using the Annum Services, and the duration of your visit to a particular page on the Annum website.  Annum may also review, collect, store and use Operations Information from or about any device where you install or access Annum Services.  Such Operations Information includes attributes such as battery and signal strength, hardware version, and operating system.  Annum may aggregate, review, store and use, or authorize the use of, this Operations Information for statistical and developmental purposes to refine and improve the Annum Services, analyze usage trends, and maintain and protect the Annum Services.  Annum also may enable disclosure of Operations Information to third-party analytics services to assist in carrying out these tasks.  So long as an individual user’s use of the Annum Services complies with the Annum Terms of Use, Annum will not use the Operations Information to attempt to associate that user with any Contact Information except as necessary to provide support or address problems with or questions about the Annum Services.  Annum will not rent or sell Operations Information, and except as stated above, we will not disclose Operations Information to third parties without your consent except when we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; (b) enforce the Annum Terms of Use, including investigation of potential violations of same; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Annum, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.

User-Entered Content.  Annum may review, collect, retain and use the User-Entered Content, in aggregated form and disconnected from any Contact Information, to refine and improve the Annum Services, analyze usage trends, and maintain and protect the Annum Services.  Annum also reserves the right to delete, from time to time and at Annum’s sole discretion, any User-Entered Content that violates the Annum Terms of Use.  Annum will not rent or sell User-Entered Content, and we will not disclose User-Entered Content to third parties without your consent except when we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; (b) enforce the Annum Terms of Use, including investigation of potential violations of same; (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Annum, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.
