Marketing planning is all about being strategic with timing and tactics in order to drive the desired result. When your day is tapped out with execution, it can be a real challenge to plan ahead effectively.

So, we’ve pulled together some resources to help you get organized. Our printable year-at-a-glance calendars will help you thinking broadly about your plan. And our monthly briefings provide direction for tactical strategy.

For B2C marketers our overviews of the top consumer spending events are meant to spark planning and get the creative juices flowing.

Top Annual Consumer Spending Events

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), there are twelve major consumer spending events each year. Each is tied to either a popular holiday or a season of shopping/gift giving. If you sell to consumers we suggest you start your annual planning by defining the promotional periods for these events. You will find them called out in our printable 2024 calendar with holidays.

Once high level timing is determined, dive into our insights and resources for each spending event (featured below) and plan your approach.

Note: The NRF is the world’s largest retail trade association, and passionately advocates for the people, brands, policies and ideas that help retail thrive. Retail is the nation’s largest private-sector employer, supporting one in four U.S. jobs.
