About October

October is the 10th month of the year and the 2nd month of fall. According to Tripsavvy the best times to view the fall colors are near the end of September in the far north, the beginning of October in the White Mountain region, and the middle of October in the south. Get out and soak it up while you can as this year the airways and internet will be overflowing with political ads and opinions as campaigning heats up for Election Day on November 2nd.

Top Consumer Spending Events

Who doesn’t like candy? 95% of consumers plan to spend on sweets for Halloween which comes in 9th on the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) list of top annual consumer spending events.

However, consumers aren’t only interested in tricks and treats at this time, according to the NRF 39% of consumers typically start shopping for the winter holidays before November. After, the next rush of spending will happen on Thanksgiving weekend with shopping continuing through December.

Regarding the Holidays and Occasions We Have Chosen

Our goal in creation of these calendars is to make marketing planning easier. So, in order to keep things simple we have chosen to focus on the top 12 consumer spending events as identified by the National Retail Federation; U.S. Federal Holidays; significant religious, ethnic, and cultural holidays that represent the diversity of the U.S. population as identified by ADL; and popular hashtag holidays that provide an opportunity for a natural business tie-in.

If you are interested in finding more occasions to commemorate here are a few resources:

Note that Bahá’í, Jewish, and Islamic holidays begin at sundown the previous day and end at sundown on the date listed.

Plans spread across a hodgepodge of printed calendars and spreadsheets?

Struggling to get a clear view of everything in market? We've been there and we believe that plans siloed by channel, project, and campaign, are holding marketers back from delivering cohesive and compelling omnichannel customer experiences that drive more revenue.

That's why we founded Annum.
